My Dad

Created by Bruce 5 years ago

One thing I always knew was my Dad was an athlete. I had certainly heard many stories over the years of him at the top of the game in multiple sports. Often at the same time. For instance a story told to me by Judge Russel (He was my Dads Law Teacher as well as mine atMenlo College where a statue now resides in honor of the Judge) about a day Alan Pitched the first game of a double header then headed over to the track for two meets in which he ran the 440 and a relay just in time to make it back to catch the second baseball game behind the plate. I believe Judge refered to him as THE IRON MAN....Pretty cool.....

Now here I sit going through his old photo albums from his youth and not only do I see proof of all his accomplishments but I see the passion for competing.  There was one paticular photo of My Dad crossing the finish line under which the caption read "1st Again". But the thing was there was no one behind him in view.... I think he was quite fast....He did chase a lot of chickens as a boy....

Next I became aware that as he became too old to compete, he started showing up in pictures as a coach to  young kids.  There were pics of him with track kids....football kids. ....baseball kids ....basketball kids....it went on and on...  There was that passion for sports...He was my little league coach.....Now I know why we were better than the other teams....

I know that if you are on this site you are well aware of what a good soul and human being My Father was and how you may feel good having known him.  It is just how he was......

Missing my Dad.  Bruce.
